CBW Guernsey was set up in 2017, following a joint venture between Chandler Backer & Co, a long standing accountancy firm in Guernsey, and CBW, a top 50 firm of accountants, tax and business advisors based in the City of London. Both firms have been working with clients in Guernsey for many years and coming together means that clients benefit from a full service offering, in particular in relation to insolvency, forensic and investigation, regulatory compliance, tax planning services and audit and accounts.
Martyn is a Chartered Accountant and has acted as the lead auditor to a wide variety of open-ended funds, across a range of asset classes including private equity, venture capital and real estate. Martyn is extremely experienced in dealing with high profile clients in Guernsey in a wide range of difficult commercial transactions, including being responsible for the audit of many of Bailiwick’s largest commercial enterprises which involved advising on such matters as mergers, acquisitions, hostile takeovers and valuations. Martyn is a member of the Association of Restructuring and Insolvency Experts and the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Prior to joining CBW in 2011, John previously held positions at Bridge and Mercer & Hole, where he led the development of their rescue, recovery and insolvency departments in London. John has worked full time in Corporate Recovery and Insolvency for over 25 years and has experience in all aspects of insolvency, both corporate and personal.
Nick is a Chartered Certified Accountant who started his time in professional accountancy and audit in the 90’s with one of “the Big Four” but has also considerable experience at the operational end of finance management, having served as Commercial Manager of Guernsey Harbours for six years and also as Finance Director looking after Guernsey’s public services. Nick is also a qualified Barrister. Having worked for many years in the field of healthcare, Nick has a particular interest in the complex fields of data protection, professional ethics and governance generally. Nick therefore enjoys acting as the firm’s data lead, and we and our clients benefit from his knowledge of law, his Court Row experience and knowledge of the local system.
Ann qualified as a certified accountant in 1987, and came to live in Guernsey the same year. Managing our Audit and Assurance function, she has considerable experience in the field, including the audit of licenced fiduciaries and insurance companies regulated by the GFSC. Ann also provides accounting and advisory services to our clients and assists in ad hoc investigative appointments and specialist assignments.
Born and bred in Guernsey with over 15 years’ experience in Guernsey’s fiduciary services industry, Tina is ideally suited to assist Martyn Mahe with both offshore and onshore multi-jurisdictional liquidations. Tina has also been trained in Anti Money Laundering and Counter Financing of Terrorism and is part of the firm’s Compliance Committee. She is in regular contact with the Guernsey Financial Services Commission, The Guernsey Registry and The States of Guernsey Income Tax Authority dealing with all regulatory requirements of CBW Guernsey’s clients. Tina’s varied knowledge and skills make her an invaluable resource for both CBW Guernsey and its clients.
Tom advises a large number of clients operating internationally, advising on structuring their global affairs, often through offshore jurisdictions. He typically advises on the way a particular structure operates for both tax and commercial advantages.
Dan is a partner in our General Practice Department and works closely with the transactional services team, particularly in relation to carrying out due diligence projects for complex transactions and company reorganisations.
